Nepal, Denmark Eye Stronger Economic Cooperation at Bilateral Talks

Nepal and Denmark have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, with a focus on expanding cooperation in sectors such as clean energy, trade and investment, tourism, information technology and digital innovation.

The discussions took place during the third meeting of the Nepal–Denmark Bilateral Consultation Mechanism in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

The meeting was co-chaired by Ganesh Prasad Dhakal, Joint Secretary and Head of the Europe Division at Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Christian Tobias Bayer Tygesen, Director for Asia, Oceania, Latin America and the Caribbean at Denmark’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the talks, Nepal briefed the Danish side on its ongoing economic reforms and efforts to create a more investment-friendly environment. Both sides explored opportunities to deepen economic engagement and enhance cooperation in areas of shared interest.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on wider regional and global challenges, including climate change, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and collaboration in multilateral forums.

Nepal and Denmark expressed satisfaction with their longstanding friendship and agreed to continue working closely to further strengthen relations.

The two countries will also mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2027.
