Nine Road Sections Blocked after Monsoon-Induced Disasters
With the relentless rains, landslides and floods have wreaked havoc on nine major highways and roads across various districts in the country. Nepal Police shared updates as of 5:00 pm today, noting that some roads are completely blocked while others have restrictions on vehicle movement during the night.
The Nepal Police Headquarters stated that the road sections in Kavre, Sindhuli, Makawanpur, Ilam, Sindhupalchowk, Dolakha, Rasuwa, Lalitpur, Taplejung and Lamjung districts have been affected from the monsoon-induced disasters.
To mitigate the risk of flooding, all vehicles are prohibited from traveling along the Kavre-Sindhuli section of the BP Highway from 6:00 pm to 4:00 am tomorrow.
Likewise, vehicle operations on the Kanti Highway in Makawanpur district are banned from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am tomorrow. The Ilam Municipality-9 Mechi highway has been entirely closed to traffic due to muddy conditions caused by the rain.
Likewise, the Araniko Highway in Sindhupalchok, the Lamabagar-Ramechhap road section in Dolakha district and the Pasang Lhyamu road segment in Uttargaya Rural Municipality-5 of Rasuwa are also blocked.
Authorities are urging everyone to check road conditions with the relevant agencies and to take necessary precautions before traveling, as the rainy season brings a heightened risk of landslides, floods, and road erosion. (RSS)
