FIFA World Cup: France Reaches Third Consecutive Semifinal
Captain Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele’s goals sent France into the semifinals of the FIFA World Cup 2026 after defeating Morocco.
In the first quarterfinal held on Friday morning at Boston Stadium in the United States, France beat Morocco 2–0.
Although Mbappe missed a penalty in the first half, both forwards scored in the second half, securing France’s place in the World Cup semifinals for the third consecutive time.

Four years ago, France and Morocco had met in the semifinals of the Qatar World Cup, where France triumphed and advanced to the final.
This time, meeting in the quarterfinals, Morocco entered the field aiming for revenge.
While Morocco managed to hold France, including Mbappe, in the first half, they conceded two goals in the second half.
With this defeat, Morocco’s 34-match unbeaten streak in international football also came to an end.
The former runners-up France will now face the winner between Spain and Belgium for a place in the final.
