High-level Committee Formed to Make ‘Law Reform Year’ Successful

The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs has formed a high-level committee to make successful the campaign of ‘year of law making and reform’.
Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Sobita Gautam, had announced the fiscal year 2083/84 as the ‘year of law making and reform’. The committee to be chaired by the Minister Gautam herself will review the existing laws and make recommendations for repealing unnecessary laws and ensuring amendments in line with the constitution.
The high-level panel includes related ministers, attorney general, president of the Nepal Bar Association, chief registrar of the Supreme Court, law secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, secretaries of the concerned ministries, and secretary of the Nepal Law Commission. Secretary of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs would serve as a member secretary of the committee.
The Ministry has aimed at building the legal system which is constitutionally aligned, people-friendly and timely. The law making and reform would be made further systematic, timely and effective, the Ministry argued. (RSS)
