Adamant Oppositions Demand PM in Parliament

Today’s meeting of the House of Representatives was adjourned due to opposition parties’ repeated protests. The meeting has been postponed till tomorrow, Thursday, May 14, at 11 AM.

In today’s meeting, the agenda was for the Prime Minister to respond to questions raised by lawmakers regarding the government’s policies and programs. However, after receiving notice that the Prime Minister would not be able to attend on time, opposition members began protesting in Parliament.

Lawmakers from the main opposition party Nepali Congress, along with CPN UML, NCP, the Labor and Culture Party, and RPP, stood up in protest, demanding that the meeting proceed only after the Prime Minister was present in Parliament.

Speaker DP Aryal repeatedly urged lawmakers to allow the meeting to continue, but the opposition did not relent, and the meeting was adjourned twice.

Discussions held by the Speaker with leaders of various parties on resuming the meeting also failed to reach a conclusion.

When the meeting reconvened for the third time, disruptions continued. As a result, Speaker Aryal announced that all items on today’s agenda were removed and deferred to tomorrow.

The Speaker also informed that tomorrow’s meeting at 11 AM will include deliberations on amendment proposals submitted by lawmakers regarding the government’s policies and programs, and the Prime Minister will respond to the issues raised in Parliament.
