Heavy Rain Disrupts Roads Across Nepal
Heavy rains have disrupted road networks across eastern, central and western Nepal, with several major highways and road sections completely blocked by landslides, flooding, erosion and mud.
According to police, roads in Ilam in eastern Nepal, and Kavrepalanchok, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Lamjung, Makwanpur, Palpa, Rolpa and Rukum West have been affected.
The Mechi Highway in Ilam, Araniko Highway in Sindhupalchok, Trishuli-Mailung-Syafrubesi and Pasang Lhamu highways in Rasuwa, Bheri Corridor in Rukum West, Besisahar-Manang road in Lamjung, Ghorahi-Thawang-Rukum Shaheed Road in Rolpa and Siddhartha Highway in Palpa are among the major routes reported fully blocked.
Night-time vehicle restrictions have also been imposed on several roads, including routes in Kavrepalanchok, Makwanpur and Nuwakot, due to the risk of flooding and landslides.
Police have urged motorists to exercise caution, monitor road conditions and use alternative routes where necessary.
