Nepal Cricket Team Returns After Asian Games Quarter-Final Exit

Nepal’s men’s national cricket team has returned home after competing at the 20th Asian Games in Japan.

The team arrived in Kathmandu last night from Tokyo and was welcomed by officials from the Cricket Association of Nepal.

Although Nepal failed to win a medal, the team produced a strong showing in the group stage, including a five-wicket victory over Test-playing Afghanistan which is Nepal’s first win against Afghanistan in 12 years.

Nepal then shared points with hosts Japan after rain washed out their final group-stage match, finishing top of their group and advancing to the quarter-finals.

However, rain again disrupted Nepal’s quarter-final against Sri Lanka, bringing their Asian Games campaign to an end.

Nepal was eliminated after Sri Lanka advanced on the basis of their higher ICC T20 ranking.

Nepal have yet to progress beyond the quarter-final stage in men’s cricket at the Asian Games.
