Rasuwa Floods: 606 Foreign Nationals of 36 Countries Still Missing

As many as 606 foreign tourists from 36 countries are still missing in the Bhotekoshi floods. According to the information provided by the Department of Tourism, 606 foreigners from 36 countries have gone missing in the floods since August 26 to this date.

Spokesperson at the Department, Suraj Ghimire informed RSS that 606 foreign tourists heading to Kailash Mansarovar through various companies and Gosainkunda for Janai Purnima fair are still missing. Among the missing foreign nationals, the highest number are from neighboring country India.

The Department shared that out of them 189 are from India, 33 from Australia, 30 from Canada, 55 from Malaysia, 54 from Ukraine, 32 from the United Kingdom, 65 from the United States, 33 from Latvia, and 37 from China.

Similarly, tourists from Belarus, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Lithuania, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Japan, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, Vietnam, Estonia, and Korea are also missing.

Over 188 domestic tourists have also gone missing. According to him, so far 310 foreign tourists have been successfully rescued. Similarly, among those who were out of contact after the floods, 13 people (three men, nine women, and one other) have been traced and are in contact. The local administration and security agencies have intensified the search and relief efforts for the missing. (RSS)
