Forest fires continue to blaze at various parts of the country
Some human settlements in Dhading at serious risk.
The combination of wildfires, industrial emissions, and construction related pollution has led to a widespread environmental crisis across Nepal.
Various parts of the country including federal Kathmandu, its suburban districts, districts in the east and major highways are battling these issues which is threatening both public health and the environment.
In Dhading, massive wildfires have been raging uncontrollably for four days across several community forests in Dhading affecting air quality and threatening nearby settlements.
The situation has worsened as rising temperatures have sparked new fires in over a dozen forests, including Jyamire Pakha in Nilkantha Municipality.
Locals are struggling to contain the flames due to a lack of resources, with the fire spreading from Ashu Community Forest to multiple villages.
Key infrastructure such as drinking water pipelines has been destroyed and a livestock shed along with stored firewood perished.
Locals have meanwhile accused the Division Forest Office of inaction as situation worsens.
In Sindhuli, wildfires have broken out across several forest areas, inducing to the air pollution crisis in the country.
As temperatures continue to rise fires along both sides of the BP Highway have made travel increasingly hazardous.
Wildfires have increased in areas with pine and sal trees and large scale fire has been burning in both the sides of the BP Highway.
Forests along the Banepa-Sindhuli-Bardibas road section from Bardibas to Khurkot and Nepalthok are ablaze drying up large trees and preventing the growth of new saplings.
The fires have further endangered local communities.
