Spain Sets up WC Semi-Final Against France

Spain reached the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2026 after Mikel Merino scored a late winner in a 2-1 victory over Belgium in Los Angeles on Friday.

Fabián Ruiz gave Spain the lead in the 30th minute, but Charles De Ketelaere equalised for Belgium in the 41st minute to send the sides into the break level.

With the match seemingly heading for extra time, Merino struck in the 88th minute to seal Spain’s place in the last four.

Spain will now face France for a place in the final after the French side beat Morocco in the previous quarter-final.

Belgium, meanwhile is eliminated from the tournament following the defeat.
