Nepal Government Coordinating With Pakistani Authorities to Locate Nepali Climbers Missing on Mt. Broad Peak

Nepal Government has said it is closely monitoring the situation following the news of avalanche on Mt. Broad Peak of Pakistan.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs issuing a statement today said Nepali embassy in Islamabad is coordinating with all relevant authorities of Pakistan including the Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP) to facilitate the swift and safe rescue of all affected mountaineers.

The Ministry said that the Pakistani authorities are conducting the search and rescue operations at war footing.

The Ministry said the expedition team to Mt. Broad Peak led by veteran climber Nirmal Purja “Nims Dai” includes Pur Bahadur Gurung “Yukta”, Kili Pemba Sherpa “Kilu”, Nima Sherpa, Nawang Thindu Sherpa and Gyalu Sherpa as well as Nadhira Ahmed Abdullah Al Harthy (Oman), Sohail Sakhi (Pakistan), Wang Zhong (China) and Mallory Geis (USA).

The Ministry said it has received assurances from the Pakistani authorities that they would mobilize all available resources for timely search and rescue operations.
