Chinese Climber, Who Scaled Sagarmatha and Lhotse Back to Back, Feted

A Chinese climber, who successfully scaled both Mt Sagarmatha and Lhotse in the spring season of 2026, has been honoured.

The Chinese climber, Shi Jungi, as well as Nepali guides—Nigma Tamang and Dawa Nuru Sherpa, had scaled Mt Sagarmath on May 14, 2026 and Mt Lhotse on May 18 through Himalayan Mountaineering Expedition were honoured.

Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party and former Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ today honoured them for non-stop expediting two mountains in a single season.
Though most of climbers scale Mt Lhotse descending to camp-IIII after successful expedition of Mt Sagarmatha, the team of Shi Jungi, had scaled the Mt Lhotse descending to camp-II.

On the occasion, Coordinator Dahal highly praised the indomitable courage and progressive spirit of the team.

“The continuous expedition of Mt Sagarmatha and Lhotse in a single season examine the physical stamina, technical skill and mental fortitude of climbers. The team has further expanded the boundaries of global mountaineering,” he underlined.

Coordinator Dahal spoke of his emotional connection with mountains. Recalling that his late son Prakash Dahal had also climbed Mt Sagarmatha, he argued that he has deep respect for every mountaineer who respected mountains and undergo safely expedition.

He also expressed the belief that the people-level mountaineering relations between China and Nepal would further strengthen cultural relations of both countries.

Similarly, the Chinese expeditor shared that he got full support from Nepali guides in his historical achievement.

He assured of actively involving to take mountaineering and Nepal-China relations to a new height in coming days. (RSS)
