Youths Showcase Ethnic Performances to Preserve Art and Culture

The indigenous and ethnic cultural program aimed at raising awareness among students about the unique arts and cultures of Nepal’s diverse communities was successfully concluded.
The event was organized by Yuwalaya through its dedicated initiative, Youth Learning Lab, at the Kathmandu Model College (KMC), Bagbazaar, Kathmandu. More than 20 performances representing different ethnic communities were exhibited by around 40 artists and students. Different traditional musical instruments, including the flute, madal and piano were also played during the event.

Third-year Bachelor’s students at KMC not only coordinated the event but also showcased their performances on the occasion.

Addressing the program, Dhurba Prasad Timalsina, Head of the Internal Quality Assurance Centre (IQAC) at KMC, expressed his appreciation for organizing the program. Timalsina highlighted that such arts and cultural awareness events not only foster respect for the nation and its heritage but also broadens the scope of education and knowledge.
‘A wise and educated citizen of a country rich in diversity should not only exercise its culture but also should play roles in preserving and making meaningful use of it’, he said.

The program featured a variety of performances, including Charya dance, Bharatnatyam, Kathak and songs and musical instruments play.
