Two Killed in a Jeep Plunge in Western Nepal

Two people have been killed after a passenger jeep plunged about 500 meters off a mountain road in western Nepal, police said.

The accident occurred on Saturday morning in Khasrekhan, Ward 7 of Amargadhi Municipality in Dadeldhura district. The jeep was traveling from Dhangadhi, a major city in Nepal’s far west, to the remote district of Darchula near the Indian and Chinese borders.

Police identified the victims as 25-year-old Shubham Lothyal and 20-year-old Hum Lothyal, both from Apihimal Rural Municipality in Darchula district. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other people injured in the crash are receiving treatment at Dadeldhura Hospital, according to police.

Authorities have not yet said what caused the accident, and an investigation is underway.
