Rescued Everest Climber in Stable Condition in ICU

A Nepali climber who was missing for five days during an Everest expedition has been rescued and is undergoing intensive treatment in Kathmandu after suffering severe frostbite and serious injuries.

Dawa Sherpa, who had been missing for five days during his Mount Everest ascent, was successfully rescued on Thursday and admitted to HAMS Hospital in Kathmandu.

According to the hospital, Sherpa is suffering from second-degree frostbite on the little fingers of both hands, while first-degree frostbite has been detected on the thumb and middle finger of his right hand.

Medical examinations also revealed a fracture in the thigh bone of his right leg, along with blood clotting in the surrounding muscle area.

In a statement, the hospital said Sherpa’s condition is currently stable and that his dehydration has shown significant improvement since admission.

Hospital Executive Director Dr. Jyotindra Sharma said a medical team is continuously monitoring his health condition.

He added that Sherpa will remain in the intensive care unit for several more days as treatment continues.
