Government Serious to Address Sensitive Situation in Districts: PM Shah

Prime Minister Balendra Shah said the government has been continuously and systematically working to address the sensitive situations arising in districts, including Sunsari, to ensure complete safety of citizens’ lives and property, and to strengthen social harmony.

In a discussion held today at the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers’ office in Singha Durbar with MPs of the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) representing various districts of Terai-Madhesh, Prime Minister Shah urged citizens not to be alarmed and to remain calm.

The Head of the Government stated that all organs of the state mechanism have been deployed with high alert.

Prime Minister Shah further noted that the government’s primary focus is to reach affected citizens, ensure their safety, and conduct a fair investigation of the incidents.

Highlighting that the government has adopted a multi-pronged strategy to keep peace and security tight and prevent the situation from worsening, he also mentioned that movement at border points has been tightened.

Prime Minister Shah asked all MPs to confidently reach their respective constituencies to play the bridging role between the state and the citizens for the cause of broader social harmony. He reminded them that in difficult and emergency situations, visiting people at their homes and standing with them is the true responsibility of MPs.

The MPs responded positively to Prime Minister Shah’s request and committed to immediately going to their respective constituencies.

They also commented that the PM’s address to the nation on Thursday sent a positive message, trust, and confidence to people across the country, especially in the affected areas.

The MPs suggested continuing a series of intensive dialogues with leaders of both sides, civil society, intellectuals, and representatives of local political parties to maintain long-term peace and brotherhood at the local level.

Additionally, they highlighted the need to continuously impart positive and unifying messages to maintain religious and social harmony in tense and surrounding areas. (RSS)
