Nearly Rs 12 Billion Deposited to PM Natural Disaster Relief Fund

Nearly Rs 12 billion has been collected in the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund and the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund as contributions continue to pour in for people affected by the August 26’s Bhotekoshi flood.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, a total of Rs 11.77 billion has been deposited into the two funds as of 9:00 am on Tuesday. Of the amount, Rs 8.59 billion is currently kept in nine commercial banks.

It may be noted that the government has already released Rs 1 billion from the relief funds to support flood victims in Rasuwa district through the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority. The Office also said that Rs 2.11 million has been deposited into the US dollar accounts maintained at Himalayan Bank Limited and Laxmi Sunrise Bank Limited. (RSS)
