Heat Wave Intensifies Across Nepal’s Terai Region

Temperatures have risen sharply across Nepal in recent days, with rainfall becoming sporadic and heat conditions intensifying in several regions.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the average temperature, which was below 37 degrees two days ago, has now climbed to around 41 degrees.

Meteorologist Saroj Pudasaini said temperatures are gradually increasing, with the possibility of hotter days in the plains of Madhes, Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

Officials say a partial influence of a low-pressure system and local winds is currently affecting western Nepal.

A bulletin from the department said weather in the hilly and mountainous regions will remain generally cloudy, while the Tarai will see partly cloudy conditions.

The Hydrology and Meteorology Department has described the ongoing conditions as “hot days” due to extreme temperatures across several regions of Nepal. With rising heat levels, farmers working in fields have reported adverse health impacts, saying the high temperatures are affecting their ability to work safely outdoors.
