Government Positive to Address Issues Facing Construction Sector: PM Shah

Prime Minister Balendra Shah has held a discussion with construction sector as part of the preparation of an atmosphere conducive to investment and economic reform with the development of physical infrastructures.
During a meeting PM Shah had with the officials from the Federation of Contractors’ Association of Nepal (FCAN) at his office, PM Shah reminded that the construction sector plays a vital role in driving economic growth, creating jobs, and building infrastructures.
The government is committed to addressing the challenges facing infrastructure works, he pledged.
The PM stressed the collaboration among all stakeholders is instrumental in ensuring that development and construction projects are completed on time, while also making the development works more dignified, transparent, responsible and results-oriented.
The entrepreneurs associated with infrastructure building who attended the meeting were Nikolas Pandey, senior vice president of FCAN, Mukesh Pant, general secretary Shivhari Ghimire, Bagmati Province vice president BalkrishnaThapa, and former president and advisor Jayram Lamichhane.
They shared before PM Shah that they were facing numerous hurdles in construction sector such as delayed payment, time extensions, contract management, rigorous deadline, price adjustments, and banking and investment concern. They underlined the need for more effective cooperation between the government and the private sector so that sustainability of the construction industry would be ensured.
PM Shah’s chief advisor Kumar Byanjankar, advisor on information and communication technology, Bibek Mishra, and principal private secretary Subas Sharma also attended the discussion. (RSS)
