Government Forms Committee to Address Loan Shark Victims’ Problems

The government has decided to form a negotiation team under the coordination of Pushkar Sapkota, Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, to address the demands of citizens affected by unfair financial transactions (meter interest lending) and to advance dialogue.
The negotiation team will include joint secretaries from the Ministries of Finance, Home Affairs, Land Management, and Federal Affairs and General Administration as members.
Today’s meeting of the Council of Ministers also decided to grant approval to Nepal Rastra Bank for minting new designs of coins of denominations Rs. 1 and Rs. 2.
The meeting further approved the acceptance of a grant assistance of USD 1.81 million from the Government of Korea for the establishment of the Nepal Legal Information Pilot System.
Similarly, the government decided that if additional trees and poles need to be removed from national forests within protected areas, the concerned ministry may grant approval by completing the prevailing legal procedures.
The Cabinet also endorsed the organizational structures and staffing positions of various ministries, as well as the first amendment ordinance of the Policy Research Institute Development Committee, 2083.
Additionally, the government approved necessary arrangements regarding the management of employees working under service contracts.
