Agreement to Form All-party Mechanisms from Center to Local Level for Disaster Response

A consensus has been reached to constitute all-party mechanisms from Bagmati province to flood-affected districts and local level in the similar form of the high-level political mechanism placed at the center to respond to the Bhotekoshi flood-induced disaster.
The all-party meeting held on Tuesday at the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP)’s parliamentary party office in Singhadurbar decided to establish all-party mechanisms at the provincial, district, and local level to support and coordinate the works carried out by all three levels of government.
Talking to media after the meeting, RSP spokesperson Jagadish Kharel informed that the political parties agreed to form all-party mechanisms in Bagmati Province and flood-affected districts and local levels to respond to the disasters, similar to the high-level body formed under the leadership of RSP President Rabi Lamichhane at the center.
He shared that all political parties participating in the meeting agreed on this issue, and now the central level has forged consensus to work by forming all-party mechanisms in the local levels of affected districts.
According to him, such mechanisms from the center to the province, district, and local levels will support the works being done by the federal, provincial, and local governments and their structures in rescue, relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction.
Also on the occasion, Nepali Congress spokesperson Dev Raj Chalise said that the meeting highlighted the need to set up multi-party mechanisms at the provincial and local levels, just like at the center, to make rescue, relief, and rehabilitation work organized and effective.
The meeting was attended by CPN (UML) leader Pradeep Gyawali, Nepal Communist Party leader Barshaman Pun, Rastriya Prajatantra Party’s parliamentary party leader Gyanendra Shahi, Representatives from the parties attending the meeting informed that all-party meeting today discussed the issues ranging from rescuing those entrapped in tunnels to rescue and relief distribution on necessary coordination among three tiers of government.
