Finance Minister Wagle Off to India for Three-Day Visit

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has left for India for a three-day visit at the invitation of the Government of India.

He departed from Kathmandu to New Delhi this morning at 7:35 on a flight. The Ministry of Finance stated that the primary objective of the visit is to foster cooperation across various dimensions of economic, political, and diplomatic relations between the two countries, including post-disaster reconstruction.

During the visit, Minister Wagle is scheduled to meet with his Indian counterpart, Nirmala Sitharaman at 5.00pm today and with External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, at 5.00pm on Friday.

On the same day, he will participate as the chief guest in a high-level diplomatic dialogue programme to be hosted by former Indian Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran.

Also on Friday, Finance Minister Dr Wagle will attend a major interaction program organized by Javed Ashraf, Chair of the India Trade Promotion Organisation.

On Saturday morning, the Finance Minister will participate as a keynote speaker in a conference with prominent industrial houses, organized by the Confederation of Indian Industries. Later in the afternoon, he will attend, as the chief guest, an academic discussion on development economics organized by the Delhi School of Economics.

The Finance Minister is scheduled to return home on Saturday evening. In his visit team, there are Amrit Lamsal, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Finance; Gehendra Rajbhandari, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Dr. Surendra Thapa, Charge d’Affaires and Taranath Adhikari, Minister Economics of the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi; along with Kanchan Basnet, Private Secretary to the Finance Minister.
