Call to Submit Claims for Post of Bagmati Chief Minister

Chief of Bagmati Province, Deepak Prasad Devkota, has invited members of the Bagmati province assembly for submission of claims for the appointment of the next Chief Minister of Bagmati. The claim has to be made by 4:00 pm on Thursday.

Issuing a statement on Monday, Province Chief Devkota called on the Provincial Assembly members, who can secure a majority with the support of two or more parties represented in the Provincial Assembly, to submit claims for the appointment as Chief Minister.

The call comes following the resignation by Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya earlier today.

Baniya announced his resignation in the Provincial Assembly meeting, after it became evident that he could not get the required majority to continue in the post. The Baniya-led government had lost a majority after the CPN (UML) withdrew its support to the provincial government on July 22. (RSS)
