Ethnic Museum Comes into Operation at Hetauda’s Martyrs Park

An ethnic museum has been inaugurated at the Shahid Smarak (Martyrs’ Memorial Park) located at Hetauda Sub Metropolis-11 on the International Day of Indigenous Peoples.

Former Chief Minister of Bagamati Province and Park Development Committee Chair Dormani Paudel inaugurated the museum. On the occasion, he expressed the belief that this ethnic heritage would address anyone’s queries on ethnic originalities and features.

District chair of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities in Makwanpur, Junga Bahadur Gurung, pledged to develop the facility as a collective destination representing all Nepalis.

During the programme, cultural performances by the Tamang and Sunuwar communities were presented, while members of the Bankariya community had a musical performance. Even the indigenous nationalities’ organizations that contributed to the establishment of the museum were also honoured on the occasion.

The museum presently houses indigenous artifacts representing 14 ethnic communities. It is expected to display artifacts from 27 ethnic communities. The facility was established at a joint investment of Rs 40 billion by the federal government and the Park Development Committee. (RSS)
