Drones to Be Used for Seed Spreading in Rasuwa Forest

The forest area at Gatlang in Rasuwa district, which was destroyed following a massive forest fire some 17 years ago, is to be revived soon.
As part of the reforestation campaign, the Division Forest Office is planning to use drones to sow the plant seeds in the site.
Thousands of plants of Sallo (pine tree), rhododendron, Dhupi (cypress wood) and other species were gutted to cinder in the forest fire that took place in 2065 BS.
The Chief of Division Forest Office in Rasuwa, Shambhu Tamang, shared that the Office is preparing to use drones to spread seeds of plants, citing difficult geographical terrain.
He shared that the collection of seeds of locally suited plants is happening at present, adding that seeds will be spread in the forest areas after two months.
A trilateral agreement was signed between the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), the Institute of Forestry and the Division Forest Office for the purpose, it is said.
In the first phase, seeds of the plants will be spread in 100 hectares of land out of a total 455 hectares of forest area in Gatlang. (RSS)
