Patan Durbar Museum Sees 313,300 Visitors in 2025

The Patan Durbar Museum in Nepal’s historic Kathmandu valley has welcomed a total of 313,300 visitors in 2025.

Of these, 105,300 were foreign tourists, including 43,053 from SAARC countries, according to Sureshman Lakhe, Administrative Chief of the museum.

The remainder consisted of domestic visitors, including 40,400 students and 124,550 general visitors.

The museum had recorded 318,337 foreign visitors in 2024.

Administrative Chief Lakhe attributed the slight decline in foreign tourists to the Gen-Z Movement and ongoing road improvement works in the Patan Durbar Square area.

Housed in the historic palace complex of the former Malla kings, the Patan Durbar Museum preserves a rich collection of traditional Nepalese art, architecture, and cultural artifacts, reflecting the city’s status as a major center of Newar culture and heritage.

Despite fluctuations in international visitor numbers, the museum continues to see a steady rise in domestic tourism. (RSS)
