Government Issues Advisory for Nepalis in India

As tensions between India and Pakistan escalate, the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi has issued an advisory urging Nepali citizens in India to remain alert and prioritize their safety.

In a statement released on Friday afternoon, the embassy urged Nepalis residing in India to exercise caution and adhere to security directives issued by the official authorities of the Indian government.

“In light of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, and the evolving situation, the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi requests Nepalis in India to stay vigilant, ensure their safety, identify nearby locations for emergency services, and comply with security directives issued by official authorities of the Indian government.

Furthermore, in case of an emergency, all concerned individuals are advised to contact the embassy for necessary coordination and assistance at the following number,” the urgent advisory issued by the embassy stated.

Meanwhile, Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has affirmed its ongoing communication with Nepali students and citizens in Pakistan. In a press release issued on Friday, the ministry emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of Nepalis in Pakistan amid the escalating India-Pakistan conflict.

The ministry has also advised Nepali citizens in Pakistan to reach out to the Nepali Embassy in Islamabad for immediate assistance if required.”The Government of Nepal is fully aware of the security and welfare of Nepali students and other citizens residing in Pakistan amidst recent developments.

To this end, the Nepali Embassy in Islamabad remains in constant contact with all Nepalis in Pakistan. Should any immediate assistance be required, Nepali students, their guardians, relatives, or any Nepali citizens in Pakistan may contact the embassy in Islamabad at the provided number at any time,” the ministry’s statement read.
