RSP Chair Lamichhane Says No One Is Above the Constitution
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane has said that no individual or institution is above the Constitution or greater than democracy, stressing that anyone acting against constitutional principles must be held accountable.
Speaking briefly to journalists after the party’s Secretariat meeting on Saturday, Lamichhane said the RSP was clear in its position that violations of the Constitution must carry consequences.
“Nothing is above the Constitution, and no one is greater than democracy,” Lamichhane said, adding that anyone engaging in activities that undermine constitutional principles must take responsibility and face punishment.
Meanwhile, RSP spokesperson Jagadish Kharel said the party had directed the government to investigate the recent incidents involving the arrest of journalists and media workers.
Kharel said the government had been asked to establish the facts surrounding the incidents, including the reasons for the arrests, the individuals involved and their accountability, and take action against those found responsible.
