Other Eight Bodies Found in Himlung Avalanche

The bodies of eight more missing people have been found in Himlung mountain avalanche in Narpa Bhumi Rural Municipality-5 in Manang, today. Number of climbers who lost their lives in the avalanche that occurred on September 27 has so far reached 15. Assistant Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Paudel informed that four bodies were found this morning and four more in the afternoon. Previously, seven bodies were found.
Still, one person has remained missing in the Himlung avalanche. “Two bodies were brought to the district headquarters in Chame, while six were taken to Fugu,” said Assistant Chief District Officer Paudel, “It is night now; helicopter cannot fly. We’ll bring more bodies on Friday.”
The bodies were brought today via a Nepali Army helicopter. Similarly, the Nepali Army team, in coordination with local residents and other security agencies, is also working to drain the flow of the Marsyangdi River blocked by landslides in Thado Khola of Chame Rural Municipality-4 and to restore the disrupted electricity transmission lines.
The avalanche occurred at the base camp of the mountain on September 27 morning. The Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA) has deployed an 11-member rescue team for search and rescue. (RSS)
