Ramnawami festival marked offering prayers to Lord Rama

Ram Navami, the auspicious Hindu festival marking the birth of Lord Ram, is being celebrated today across Nepal with great devotion and fervor.
Observed annually on the ninth day of the bright fortnight of the month of Chaitra, devotees thronged Ram temples nationwide from early morning to offer prayers and perform rituals.
Worshipers believe that performing prayers, chanting, and meditating on Lord Ram on this sacred day helps fulfill one’s desires.
Traditionally, the festival is preceded by the worship of the Ashta Matrikas on Chaitra Ashtami, followed by special rituals for Lord Ram on Navami.
Major Ram temples across the country—including those in Battisputali, Pashupatinath, and Aarubari of Gokarneshwar in Kathmandu—witnessed large crowds of devotees since dawn.
Celebrations are also underway in Janakpur, where the Ram Janaki Temple has drawn thousands of pilgrims from both Nepal and India for the grand mela (fair).
In Janakpur and Ayodhya (India), dramatic enactments of Ramlila, depicting episodes from Ram’s life, are being staged as part of the festivities.
According to Hindu scriptures, offering prayers and worshiping Lord Ram on this day is believed to bestow “Shri”—a symbol of prosperity and auspiciousness.
Meanwhile, in the sacred site of Halesi in Khotang, known as the “Pashupatinath of the East,” a 15-day Ram Navami fair also commenced today.
A confluence of Hindu, Buddhist, and Kirat faiths, Halesi attracts pilgrims from Nepal, India, and Bhutan, especially during this time.
Deeply associated with Kirat civilization and spirituality, the Halesi fair is celebrated with great enthusiasm and religious spirit.
The festival brings together communities, faiths, and traditions, reinforcing Nepal’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage.
On the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, large numbers of devotees gathered at the historic Ram Temple in Janakpurdham from early morning today to offer prayers and take part in religious rituals.
The festival, which commemorates the victory of truth over falsehood and the birth of Lord Ram, is marked with great devotion across Nepal.
