Nepal Fines Gas Traders for Black Marketing

Nepal’s Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has taken action against 37 businesses in the Kathmandu Valley for violating regulations on the sale of cooking gas, with penalties ranging from warnings to fines of up to 300,000 Nepali rupees which is equivalent to $2,000.

The department, under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, took action against the businesses on Friday, a day after penalising 23 other industries and firms in the valley.

Five businesses were fined between 5,000 and 50,000 rupees around $33–$333.
