Rasuwa Flood Disaster: Second Dam Breach Reported

A lake forming at the source of the Bhotekoshi River in Nepal’s Rasuwa district has begun overflowing, raising concerns of a possible rise in water levels downstream.

Authorities say the water flow toward Nepal has not increased significantly so far, but local residents have been urged to remain alert.

Rasuwa’s Chief District Officer confirmed the development, which has also been verified by Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Senior Divisional Hydrologist Binod Parajuli said water has started flowing out of the newly formed lake and that the Bhotekoshi River’s flow has increased.
