Water Level again Increases in Bhotekoshi, Alert Issued

The water level has increased again in the Bhotekoshi river in Rasuwa. In view of the risk it poses, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has urged people to take precaution in the downstream areas, saying the level of water mixed with mud and debris has risen in the river.

NDRRMA issued a notice today warning that flood could occur again in Bhotekoshi and urged those involved in rescue and relief operations in Bhotekoshi and Trishuli to stay alert.

NDRRMA Spokesperson Shanti Mahat has urged everyone in the risk areas to be cautious and move to a safe place immediately.

A massive devastating flash flood in the Bhotekoshi river on Wednesday swept away towns and settlements, killing 469 people so far. Two thousand three hundred and eighty-one people, including 644 foreign nationals are unaccounted for in the aftermath of the disaster. (RSS)
