Floods, Landslides Disrupt Various Highways
Traffic has been affected on major highways and roads in various districts of the country due to torrential rainfall, landslides, and floods.
According to the Nepal Police report released at 5:00 am today, some roads have been completely blocked and some have witnessed restrictions on vehicle movement at night.
On the Khurkot–Nepalthok–Katunje Bensi section along the BP Highway connecting Kavrepalanchok and Sindhuli, all types of vehicles are prohibited from operating from 6:00 pm to 4:00 am due to potential flood risks.
Similarly, on the Kantilokpath road, all types of vehicles are prohibited from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am.
Traffic has been completely halted along the Mechi Highway in Ilam Municipality-9, with the road tuning muddy due to rain.
Likewise, landslides have completely blocked the road in Jirokilo and Kodari areas of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality of Sindhupalchok district along the Araniko Highway.
On the Lamasanghu–Ramechhap section in Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-5, Dolakha, the flow of the Samakoshi River has crumpled the road, causing traffic disruption.
In Rasuwa’s Uttargaya Rural Municipality-5, in Khalte, the Pasang Lhamu road section has been completely blocked due to erosion caused by the Trishuli River.
The police have urged one and all to get updated of the road status from the authorized agencies and take necessary precautions before traveling in view of a high risk of landslides, floods and road erosion during the rainy season. (RSS)
