Narayani Hospital Doctors Resign En-masse against Assault on Medical Officer

Doctors at Narayani Hospital in Birgunj resigned en-masse on Tuesday, in their protest against the assault on medical officer Dr Pramod Ram Shah on Saturday. 

Earlier, Raj Kumar Patel, 45, of Birgunj Metropolis-25, died on Saturday while undergoing treatment at the hospital. 

Accusing the doctors of negligence in his treatment, his relatives attacked medical officer Dr Pramod Ram and vandalized the hospital property. 

Medical officer Dr Ram, who sustained severe injuries in the attack, was taken to Kathmandu. He has been undergoing the treatment at National Trauma Centre in Kathmandu since Monday. 

According to Hospital acting medical superintendent Dr Chitra Ranjan Shah, 71 doctors, out of 80, have collectively tendered their resignations. The doctors have staged their protest against the attack since Sunday. (RSS)
