FIFA World Cup: Spain Blanks France to Reach Final in 16 Years

Spain has reached the FIFA World Cup final for the first time in 16 years after defeating France in the first semifinal.

On Wednesday morning in Dallas, USA, Spain became the first team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup final by beating France 2–0 in the semifinal. Goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro secured a comfortable victory.

Oyarzabal converted in the 22nd minute to give Spain the lead.

In the 58th minute, Pedro doubled Spain’s advantage. Although France tried to fight back, they could not break through Spain’s disciplined and solid defense.

So far in this World Cup, Spain has conceded only one goal.

This defeat ended France’s dream of reaching a third consecutive World Cup final. France will now play in the third-place playoff on Saturday.

Spain will face the winner between Argentina and England in the final on Monday.
