Flood Inundates Holding Centre for Displaced Families in Kathmandu

Heavy rainfall has caused the Bagmati River to overflow, inundating a temporary holding centre for displaced families in Kathmandu.

Floodwaters entered the shelter at the Radhasoami Satsang Centre in Sundarighat, Kirtipur, after overnight rain caused river levels to rise.

The facility was housing 154 displaced people.

Security personnel evacuated some residents to a building at Tribhuvan University, while others sought refuge with relatives.

Residents said the flooding submerged nearly all of their belongings.
