Weather Improves as Festival Approaches

The weather has improved across Nepal as the continuous rainfall has stopped.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, no rainfall has been recorded anywhere in the country over the past 24 hours.

The department says there is no immediate possibility of heavy rainfall, contrary to reports circulating on social media, and forecasts generally clear weather across the country for the next two to three days.

Although fog may be seen in Kathmandu Valley and some parts of the Tarai during the morning, sunshine is expected in various parts of the country during the day, with generally clear weather forecast.

Meanwhile, between September 22 and 27, heavy rainfall was recorded across several parts of the country.

The highest cumulative rainfall during the period was recorded in Nawalparasi at 544.2 millimetres.

Similarly, Kaski recorded 500 millimetres, Tanahun 472 millimetres, Palpa 458 millimetres and Syangja 431.8 millimetres of rainfall, according to the department.

Nepal’s weather now appears to be settling, with clearer skies and sunshine adding to the festive atmosphere across the country.

The department says conditions for the monsoon to officially withdraw have not yet been met. However, it says it continues to closely monitor the weather situation.
