Schools in Kanchanpur Shut Down due to Extreme Heat
Municipalities in Kanchanpur have started shutting down schools due to extreme heat.
Issuing a notice today, Shuklaphanta Municipality announced closure of all schools in the municipal for coming two days. Considering the likelihood of extreme heat adversely affecting the health of students, the decision was taken to close the schools.
Similarly, Krishnapur Municipality has given a holiday for all community and institutional schools in the municipal area for three days from today, shared the municipality’s information officer Prem Bogati.
Bhimdatta Municipality here also issued a notice and closed schools for three days from today. The holidays will be deducted from the summer vacation and other long vacations.
There are 349 institutional and 260 community schools in Kanchanpur, divided into nine local levels. The heat wave of the past few days has affected the normal life of Kanchanpur.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology had issued a special bulletin warding of hot days and heat waves, and has requested the public to take necessary precautions.
The maximum temperature in Lumbini and Sudurpaschim Provinces is expected to be 38 degrees Celsius or higher, and in a few places, 40 degrees Celsius or more, indicating the possibility of extreme heat. (RSS)
