Nepal Reach Asian Games Cricket Quarterfinals as Group A Winners

Nepal advance to the men’s cricket quarterfinals at the 20th Asian Games in Japan after finishing top of Group A with three points.

Nepal face Sri Lanka in the quarterfinal on September 29 at 9 a.m. local time in Japan.

Their final group match against hosts Japan in Nishin is abandoned due to rain, with both teams receiving one point. Nepal make 149 for four in 15 overs before play is halted.

Sandeep Jora top-scores with an unbeaten 57 from 32 balls, including five fours and three sixes, while Lokesh Bam adds an unbeaten 52 from 22 balls, with six sixes and a four.

Aasif Sheikh scores 21.

Nepal had earlier secured two points with a five-wicket win over Afghanistan.

In badminton, Nepal’s Rasila Maharjan, Rihana Sherchan and Kshitij Khanal all lose their respective singles matches 2–0.

Nepal are also competing in boxing and skateboarding at the Asian Games.
