Nepal Approves $436 Million in FDI Commitments

Nepal has approved foreign direct investment commitments worth 58 billion Nepali rupees, around 436 million US dollars, in the current fiscal year.

The Department of Industry said the commitments cover 1,116 projects, with agriculture, tourism and energy sectors receiving the largest shares.

Foreign investors pledged around 23 billion rupees, or 173 million dollars, for agriculture projects, while tourism attracted 13 billion rupees, about 98 million dollars and energy received 7 billion rupees, nearly 53 million dollars.

The department said 897 projects received commitments through the automatic route, while 219 projects were approved through the regular process.(RSS)
