Madhes government has urged everyone to maintain social harmony, religious tolerance and mutual trust.

Minister for Home Affairs, Communications and Law in Madhes Province, Fakira Mahato, issued an appeal, expressing serious concern over communal tension, violence and provocation in some places of Madhes province in recent time. At such time, it is urgent for all to maintain harmony, religious tolerance and mutual trust, he argued.

In Madhes Province, which is home to diverse religion, culture, language and communities, the elements that jeopardize social unity and coexistence are not acceptable, the Minister said, asking all not to give religious or communal colour to any incident nor spread misleading information via social networking sites.

The government has already directed the security agencies to maintain peace, security and rule of law. Anyone involved in the violence, vandalism, arson and any acts of inciting communal hatred would be taken action as per law, the Minister stated in the appeal.

According to him, religious gurus, intellects, people’s representatives, civil society members, teachers, students, media persons and people’s representatives have more responsible role to maintain social amity. He also reminded that peace, harmony, mutual respect and coexistence are foundation of Madhes Province’s civilization and prosperity. So, everyone is urged not to be swayed after provocation and disruptive activities, the Minister stressed. (RSS)
