Landslide Obstructs Western Nepal’s Karnali Highway

A landslide at Gagane Stream in Kalikot district has blocked the Karnali Highway in western Nepal, bringing traffic to a complete halt.

Saurav Singh, Information Officer at the Road Division Office in Jumla, said the landslide was triggered by incessant rainfall and has disrupted vehicular movement along the Karnali Highway, a key road connecting remote districts in the Karnali region.

He said efforts to clear the debris have been underway since 3:00 a.m. in coordination with the Road Division Office in Surkhet.

In a public notice, the office also urged people to avoid travelling at night during the rainy season. (RSS)
