India Welcomes Successful Conduct of Nepal Elections

India’s Ministry of External Affairs’ Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that India welcomed the successful conduct of elections in Nepal and the enthusiastic participation by the citizens in exercising of their democratic rights.

He further said that India extends congratulations to Prime Minister Sushila Karki, the Government and the people of Nepal as well as various stakeholders for successfully holding the polls which took place against the backdrop of exceptional circumstances last year.

India has consistently supported peace, progress and stability in Nepal and in keeping with its commitment, also provided logistical supplies as per request from Government of Nepal for these elections.

He said that India looks forward to working with the new Government of Nepal to further build on the robust multifaceted ties between the two countries and the people for mutual benefit. (DDI)
