Heavy Rain Threatens Rescue Efforts in Nepal’s Bhotekoshi Flood Zone

Heavy rain is forecast in areas of Nepal’s Rasuwa district affected by the Bhotekoshi River floods, raising concerns that ongoing search and rescue operations could be disrupted.

Meteorologist Hariprasad Dahal of Nepal’s Meteorological Forecasting Division said most parts of the flood-affected area could receive moderate rain on Saturday, with heavy rainfall possible in isolated locations.“Search and rescue operations could be affected by heavy rain in one or two places, so caution is necessary,” Dahal said.

Across Nepal, moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected in many mountainous and hilly areas during the day.

Heavy rain is also possible in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The risk is expected to continue overnight, with some areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces potentially receiving heavy, and in one or two locations, very heavy rainfall.
