PM Shah Commits to Make Nepal Police Better Equipped to Respond During Disasters
Prime Minister Balendra Shah has said that the government is committed to making the Nepal Police more capable of dealing with potential disasters in the future.
In a message of best wishes he gave on the occasion of the 71st Police Day today, Prime Minister Shah said that the government has focused on policy guidance, legal support, modern training, and infrastructure development to help the police, who are always on the front lines serving the people, become more capable.
He also shared that the government has planned to develop the Nepal Police Hospital into a medical college, keeping in mind the health services for police staff, their families, and the general public.
Prime Minister Shah paid heartfelt tribute to the police persons who laid down their lives in different periods and in the recent Bhotekoshi-Trishuli disaster, in the course of discharging their duties. He also wished for the speedy recovery of the police officers who were injured and disabled while performing their duties.
“We are celebrating the 71st Police Day with the slogan ‘Guide During Disasters, Shelter in Crisis, Technologically Advanced Nepal Police.’ The ‘Police Mirror–2083’ to be released at the event is expected to connect the history and the present of the Nepal Police with future generations and keep the organisation’s memories fresh,” Prime Minister Shah said in his greeting message.
The Prime Minister said that the government is serious about preventing and controlling the increasing financial and cyber crimes lately. For this, the Prime Minister mentioned that with the cooperation of the Nepal Police, arrangements are being made to bring together the central bank, internet and telecom service providers, and digital wallets in one place to address citizens’ complaints more effectively.
He also said that preparations are underway to establish Artificial Intelligence (AI) Unit, an ‘Aerial Security and Support Unit,’ and an ‘Integrated Anti-Scam Center.’ Prime Minister Shah also thanked friendly countries and international development partners who helped the Nepal Police in disaster management, technology expansion, and infrastructure development.
“The Nepal Police is continuously working to maintain internal peace, security, and order in Nepal. The real test of a public servant comes during times of crisis. In moments of difficulty, it is our patience, right decisions, and skilled execution that help avert any crisis,” the Prime Minister said in his message of best wishes.
On the occasion, Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki had read out the congratulatory message sent by Prime Minister Shah. (RSS)
