Flood, Landslides Affect Traffic Services in Several Highways

Floods and landslides triggered by recent heavy rains have caused significant disruption in traffic services across various highways in Bagmati Province.

The Nepal Police reported that several roads are completely blocked, while others are operating under one-way traffic services.

The Trishuli-Mailung-Syafrubesi road is entirely impassable, particularly in the Uttar Gaya Municipality area of Rasuwa. In Nuwakot, vehicular movement has been restricted from 10:00pm to 5:00am in the Shivapuri Rural Municipality.

Additionally, the Prithvi Highway has experienced blockages due to landslides in Dhading, although some small vehicles are managing to navigate one lane in specific areas.

The police have successfully cleared landslides in certain locations, allowing for unilateral traffic flow, particularly in Chandragiri Municipality.

To mitigate risks associated with flooding, especially in the Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katunjebesi area of Kavre along the BP Highway, specific time restrictions have been implemented for vehicle movement.

However, freight vehicles weighing up to 10 tons are permitted to operate from 7:00pm to 5:00am, while other vehicles can travel from 4:00am to 6:00pm, contingent on the prevailing conditions.

Authorities have advised the public to assess road conditions before traveling and to avoid nighttime journeys in hazardous areas. (RSS)
