Department of Passports Initiates New System of Passport Production, Management

The Department of Passports has started passport services today through the new passport production and management system.
The department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has successfully completed the country’s largest data migration in history and started operating passport services.
The department has said that passport details of about ten million Nepali citizens have been safely transferred to the new system.
After implementing such a large-scale information technology system, it will be natural to see some technical challenges, system slowness, and minor delays in passport issuance in the initial days, according to the department.
The department has stated that, as a preparation for such possible situations, the department’s technical team and staff, along with experts from the system development company, have been on standby around the clock, continuously monitoring, testing, and improving the system.
The department has assured that it is fully capable and committed to quickly and long-term solving such problems.
In the initial phase of this new system, only those service users for whom a passport is essential have been requested to apply.
This collaboration will, the department said, make an important contribution to making the new system more stable and effective. Also, all service seekers have been requested to rely only on information and news related to passport services published through official channels of the department or the ministry. (RSS)
