Instruction to Arrange Breast Feeding Room in all Airports within 24 hours

The government has directed the concerned authority to arrange dedicated breast feeding and child care rooms at all airports of the country, including the Tribhuvan International Airport within 24 hours. 

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has directed for the operation and up-gradation of breastfeeding and childcare rooms at airports, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and privacy. 

The ministry has also instructed for the operation of primary care rooms for patients and passengers with special needs. 

Instructions have been given to maintain airport cleanliness up to the international marks, establish a daily cleaning ‘log book’ system, and comply with health standards set by the World Health Organization and the International Civil Aviation Organization. 

Free ‘sanitary pads’ should also be arranged in toilets for female passengers. 

The ministry has directed that the instructions issued be implemented and reported to the ministry. 

In the directive issued by Secretary Mukunda Prasad Niraula stated that information should also be provided to the ministry’s information officer whether the government directives have been implemented for the general public and passengers. (RSS)
