Home Minister Stresses to Integrate Disaster Management Education in School

Minister for Home Affairs, Sudhan Gurung, underscoring the importance of incorporating disaster rescue and preparedness programme in the school curricula, has instructed the concerned authorities to make necessary arrangement for the same.

In a discussion with Armed Police Force’s Inspector General, Raju Aryal, here today, Minister Gurung highlighted the need to coordinate efforts with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to bring in force the aforesaid programme.

Emphasizing the importance of providing students with basic training in disaster preparedness, Gurung explained that the primary goal of the programme is to equip children with essential life skills from an early age, especially concerning disaster management.

The programme aims to impart knowledge on students on ensuring safety during the disasters, providing basic disaster rescue skills and raising awareness on the disaster rescue and preparedness efforts, the Minister added.

Through the programme, students are expected to gain hands-on knowledge and enable them to respond effectively during the disasters.

According to the Minister Gurung’s secretariat, the initiative will be carried out by coordinating efforts among relevant agencies to ensure its effective and efficient implementation. (RSS)
